I have a passion for beauty. Whether it be a great painting by one of the masters, a gorgeous God-
created sunset casting shadows across a majestic landscape, the elegance of a bird in flight, or the
people we are surrounded by everyday, it is the drive to capture this beauty that leads me to do what I
do.
What exactly do I do? I want to capture beauty in my photographs. I want to shoot the beauty in
everyone and everything. With a wedding shoot, my desire is to capture the beauty in the ceremony,
the interaction of the couple as they start a new chapter in their life together, and in the family and
friends as they share in the celebration of the moment. A portrait shoot is something more intense.
It is an opportunity to look at the soul of the subject. I want to capture the true person, who they are
and where they are in their journey through life. Shooting nature, on the other hand, is the way for
me to really enjoy a vacation. If I am not photographing people, then animals and the world’s natural
beauty are the next best subjects.
I run a low profile business, charging only what is absolutely necessary to keep the business going.
The revenue covers upgrades in equipment, software, advertising, and the opportunity to improve my
skills and abilities.
My life has been about creating for as long as I can remember. I studied design and photography at
the Kansas City Art Institute and later graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in
Industrial Design (a blend of art and engineering). In addition to my full time position in engineering,
I enjoy the photographic challenges this part-time professional role brings to my life.
I have one national magazine cover and several published images to my credit. However, in
retrospect, that is not what I want from my work. I enjoy the interaction with my subjects and the
chance to provide a unique service. My personal satisfaction is in hearing a mother exclaim that I
captured the real personality of her child or a bride telling me how happy she was with her images. I
simply want to share what I do and make my clients happy with the results.
